Studio & Workshop Access Policy
1. Purpose
This policy ensures equal, fair, and consistent access to all studios, workshops, and specialist facilities for students enrolled in the Fine Art Diploma.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All Fine Art Diploma students
- All studio and workshop facilities (e.g. painting studios, sculpture workshops, printmaking, digital labs)
- Academic and technical staff
3. Access Principles
FreshArt College ensures that:
- All students have equal opportunity to use facilities required for their studies
- Access is managed in a transparent and consistent manner
- Facilities are used in a safe and supervised environment
4. Opening Hours
Each studio/workshop operates under clearly defined opening hours. Opening hours are:
- Published in the Student Handbook
- Displayed outside each facility
- Any changes (e.g. extended hours during assessments) are communicated in advance
5. Booking Procedures
Where demand requires, a booking system is implemented. Booking rules include:
- Students may reserve time slots in advance
- Maximum usage per student may be limited to ensure fair access
- Priority may be given during assessment periods where necessary
- Some studios may operate on an open-access basis (no booking required), which will be clearly stated
6. Technical Support and Supervision
Workshops and specialized facilities operate under appropriate supervision. A qualified technician or staff member is available:
- During operation of equipment
- When safety supervision is required
- Students must follow all health and safety guidelines
7. Responsibilities
Students:
- Use facilities responsibly and safely
- Respect booking schedules and shared use
- Follow staff instructions
Staff/Technicians:
- Ensure safe operation of facilities
- Provide guidance and technical support
- Monitor fair usage
8. Monitoring and Review
The College monitors usage to ensure fair and effective access.
