Admission to Freshart College is open to all qualified students. The College adheres to a policy of non-discrimination in admitting students. Candidates for admission are considered without reference to race, religion, sex, special needs, age, sexual orientation or ethnic origin.
Regular admission to academic programmes requires a recognised Secondary School Leaving Certificate with a grade of 7.5 out of 10/ 75 out of 100, or 15 out of 20 or equivalent qualifications. This status may be contingent upon demonstrating proficiency in English: GCSE or IGCSE level in English with a minimum grade of ‘C’, Computer Based TOEFL 71, IELTS of 5 or above, PTE 68, Password skills 5.5, or the Freshart English Placement Test. Advanced standing will be allowed on the basis of additional qualifications (i.e. GCE “A” Level). Portfolio and Interview are required for admission to Fine Arts Diploma.
Applicants are admitted under this status if they need English language or other non-credit instruction to meet the established standards of admission. Such applicants may take courses, which constitute an integral part of a registered programme for a period of up to three months duration. Upon completion, such students will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Credits earned at other accredited colleges and universities or in accredited programmes are transferable to Freshart college. A transcript is required. Course descriptions, syllabi and textbooks used may be required to determine the subject covered. Courses are normally evaluated individually. In some cases, validation may be required in the form of oral or written examination, transfer credits may be provisional, and students may be placed on probation.
The College applies the principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention where appropriate, ensuring fair, transparent, and timely recognition of qualifications and periods of study, unless substantial differences can be demonstrated.
For the evaluation of foreign qualifications, the College makes use of guidance and information provided by the national ENIC/NARIC centre and other recognised international reference sources, where appropriate.
Freshart college fully recognizes credits and learning outcomes achieved through Erasmus+ mobility activities, in accordance with the principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention activities. Recognition is based primarily on the level of study and outcomes, rather than on formal equivalence of course titles or contact hours. Upon completion of the mobility period, students are required to submit an official Transcript of Records issued by the host institution.
The Registrar carries out this evaluation in consultation with the Programme Coordinators and the Academic Director
It is possible to earn credit from life or work experience, business or industrial training programmes and other achievements. A portfolio must be submitted documenting the learning done outside of formal college courses. Credit is given for the learning or achievements that have come from experience, not the actual experience. Students must demonstrate a balance between theory and practice. Credits from self-acquired competencies through portfolio assessment are limited to 10% of the total number of credits of the requirements of the qualification sought. For the recognition of previous studies, a three-member transfer committee is appointed, made up of members of the academic staff, which examines the transfer applications and makes recommendations for the acceptance or rejection of the applications.
The decision to offer a position to the candidate is taken by the Programme Coordinator.
In cases where the transfer committee deems it necessary, the candidate may undergo special examinations in addition to a personal interview before a decision is made to transfer him.
In order for transfer credit to be officially evaluated, the student must submit a certified copy of their transcript or transcripts to the College’s Office of Admissions. Courses are accepted where the curriculum is consistent with a corresponding Freshart course or an elective course.
After the procedures required for the evaluation of transferable credits have been completed, the Office of Admissions provides the prospective students with official certification of the courses/credits recognized for transfer of credits to the degree of their choice. All candidates are informed in writing.
Transfer credits will not count towards the student’s Cumulative Point Average – CPA (overall grade). Regardless of the credits transferred, students have to complete at least one half of the number of the Diploma ECTS (60 ECTS for a 120 -ECTS) and (120ECTS for a 240ECTS) Bachelor.
