Paphos is a coastal city in the south west of Cyprus and the capital of Paphos District. In antiquity, two locations were called Paphos: ‘Old Paphos’, today located at Kouklia, and ‘New Paphos’. Paphos is included in the official UNESCO World Heritage list of ‘Cultural & Natural Treasures’ for its spectacular ancient remains and was selected as a European Capital of Culture for 2017.

The city of Paphos lies about 50km (a 30-minute drive) west of Limassol (the biggest port on the island) and Paphos International Airport, the country’s second-largest airport.

Transportation in Paphos is very easy! Local bus is the cheapest method to travel within Paphos, that costs as little as 1.50 euro. Distances are quite short so a lot of students prefer to travel by bike or on walk. If you need to get to somewhere outside of Paphos, you can take an intercity bus or taxi which will take you to all the cities in Cyprus. 

Students can rent cheap apartments (most rental apartments are fully furnished) in downtown Paphos, closed to bus stations, supermarkets, shops, mall, restaurants and cafes. Another option is to share a rented suite or a house with other students.

Paphos attracts tourists all year round and therefore offers a wide range of places to go. From cocktail bars, pubs, karaoke, to restaurants (with cuisines from various nations) and traditional taverns, cafes and beach bars.
